ウイルス性疾患から日本の馬産業を守れ!

分子生物研究室イメージ

分子生物研究室では、馬のさまざまなウイルス性疾患を対象に、疫学調査、診断法の開発、予防や治療に関する研究を行っています。とりわけ、国内で流産や発熱を引き起こして問題となっている馬ヘルペスウイルス1型感染症(馬鼻肺炎)、および馬インフルエンザに関しては、競走資源の損失あるいは円滑な競馬開催の妨げとなりうることから、精力的にそれらの防あつに直結する研究に取り組んでいます。そのほか、子馬の主な下痢症の原因である馬ロタウイルス感染症や、馬コロナウイルス感染症などの研究を行っています。
